Project Summary

Carol Fleetton, owner of the 27-acre ridge-top parcel at 108 Westerly Ridge, has proposed donating the property to the town for permanent conservation. The parcel sits at the top of the Westerly Ridge community and is subject to the town's ridgeline and scenic overlay restrictions dating to the 1990 master plan and 2007 comprehensive plan. Under the proposal, the parcel would be removed from the Westerly Ridge homeowners association, placed under a conservation easement held by the Dutchess Land Conservancy, and then donated to the town. The town board has expressed general interest but has not yet made any commitments.

Owner Carol Fleetton (through an LLC) presented the donation proposal to the Town Board. Board members expressed support for the concept but said a decision could not be made that evening, pending review of the draft conservation easement and further coordination among the town, the Dutchess Land Conservancy, and the Westerly Ridge homeowners association.
